Environmental Stigma

Environmental factors such as stigma and discrimination in society or non-access to appropriate health care either because of distance, cost, or lack of medication also create a disabling situation for people with HIV and AIDS.

Stigma is a complex social phenomenon or process that results in a powerful discrediting social neighbor or radically changes ways individuals view themselves and are viewed by others.

UCLID has created an educational dialogue center to prevent stigmatism of people with HIV/AIDS and to explain disability and create a dialogue to eliminate prejudice against those with disabilities/HIV and AIDS.
